Lamar County Senior Citizens Meal Program
The Senior Citizens Meal Program provides low-cost nutritious meals to individuals 60 years of age or older in Lumberton, Oak Grove, Purvis, and Sumrall. This program is funded by the Lamar County Board of Supervisors. In 2023, this program also received a sponsorship from Cigna Healthcare.
Meal Prices:
Monday – Thursday: $5 per plate
Friday: $6 per plate

Commodity Supplemental Food Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federal nutrition program that provides monthly packages of healthy food to low-income seniors aged 60 and older. In partnership with the Mississippi Food Network, CSFP aims to supplement the diets of eligible individuals by providing nutritious foods like canned fruits and vegetables, juices, grains, and protein sources.
To be eligible for the CSFP in Covington, Forrest, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Marion, and Perry counties, individuals must:
- Be at least 60 years of age
- Meet the program's household income guidelines (at or below 130% of the federal poverty level)
- Reside in one of the eligible counties
Food Assistance
Interested individuals can contact their local CSFP distribution agency or the Mississippi Food Network to apply and learn more about the program's operations and distribution sites in their area.
